Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Beats Ramapo for Ninth Straight Win, 2-0

Huuerta, Burnett Get Goals as MSU Downs Roadrunners

Montclair, NJ – Junior JOSE HUERTA and sophomore CHAZ BURNETT each scored a goal as Montclair State kept its record unblemished in conference play with a 2-0 victory over Ramapo College at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday.

Senior goalkeeper MIKE SAALFRANK stopped six shots for his fifth shutout as the Red Hawks upped its winning streak to nine games improving to 12-1-1 overall, 5-0 in the NJAC. Ramapo fell to 10-2, 3-2 in the league.

Huerta broke a scoreless tie in the 25th minute with his ninth goal of the year. RAFAEL TERCI took a long feed down the left sideline and drove in toward the box before flipping a pass to the middle for MICHAEL KNAPP. Knapp tapped it over on the right to Huerta, who blasted a shot inside the near post giving MSU the 1-0 lead.

Montclair State held that lead until the 69th minute when Burnett extended it to a two-goal advantage. Knapp took a shot from the top of the box that was blocked. The ball rolled toward the left side where it was picked up by JAKE SEAMAN. Seaman made a move before sending a cross to the far post where Burnett was there to tap it in.

Each team took 18 shots in the game with Montclair holding the slim 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, October 9 at home as the Red Hawks host New Jersey City University at 7:00 pm.
