Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped their NJAC dual meet with Rowan University on Saturday afternoon at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool.
The women fell to 2-3 on the year, 1-1 in conference action after dropping a 192-108 decision to the Profs. Meanwhile the men suffered a 219-75 setback as they fell to 0-5, 0-2 NJAC.
CLAIRE LUIGARD was a triple-winner for the Red Hawks as she captured both breaststroke events in addition to the 200 individual medley. She posted a time of 1:09.10 in the 100 breaststroke and swam 2:31.71 to win the 200 event. Luigard had a winning time of 2:17.04 in the 200 IM.
MADISON FRANKE took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.93 before placing second in the 100 free (55.64) and 50 free (25.10 seconds).
TAYLOR WADDLETON placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:33.43) and the Red Hawks got second-place showings by
MARGAUX WINCHOCK in the 100 butterfly (1:02.00) and
EMILY ROTHAMEL in the 100 backstroke (1:02.21).
Senior
GRACE NIELSEN continued her outstanding season sweeping both sections of the 1-meter diving with scores of 185.48 and 238.05 respectively.
For the men,
KEVIN GIBSON captured the 200 freestyle posting a time of 1:47.09.
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI was second in both the 50 freestyle (22.42) and 100 freestyle (48.82) with James Singlewald placing second in the 200 backstroke (2:06.94).
The MSU women return to action on Monday, November 5 at home against Kean University beginning at 6pm. Both squads then compete in the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on November 16-18 in Lancaster, PA.
