Montclair, NJ - Sophomore guard
KIM CALLOWAY scored 18 points helping Montclair State extend its winning streak to six games as the Red Hawks cruised to a 77-44 victory over New Jersey City University at the Panzer Athletic Center on Wednesday evening.

ALEX MCKINNON and sophomore
CERYS MACLELLAND each registered double-doubles as the Red Hawks upped their record to 7-1 on the season while staying unbeaten in the NJAC at 4-0. Maraijah Bacon finished with 26 points for the Gothic Knights, who fell to 0-7, 0-4 in conference play. MSU also extended its winning streak against NJCU to 31 games dating back to the 2001-2002 season.
Bacon gave the Gothic Knights a 2-0 lead 14 seconds into the contest but that would be the last advantage NJCU would have as the Red Hawks scored the next 14 points while holding he visitors scoreless until under two minutes remaining in the opening period. Calloway put MSU in front with a three-pointer with McKinnon and MacLelland combining on eight straight points for a 12-2 lead before Calloway finished off the spurt with a jumper for a 12-point advantage with 2:12 to go.
The Red Hawks led 18-9 after the first quarter and pushed that to 29-12 midway through the second as Calloway drained a three-pointer. She would add a jumper in the paint with 1:04 left helping MSU to a 39-22 lead at the break.
MSU kept widening the lead in the second half. McKinnon connected from behind the arc with 5:34 left in the third making the score 50-29 and a three-pointer by
TRISHA PETERSON in the final minute boosted the Red Hawks' lead to 60-37 heading into the fourth quarter.
McKinnon finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds while MacLelland had an identical double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. MacLelland also handed out four assists and recorded three steals with
DOMONIQUE WIRSING chipping in with four points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Freshman
KELLY SMITH had seven points off the bench with
TAYLOR BROWN,
RYLEE MULLIGAN and
JULIA SUTTON each netting six.
The Red Hawks dominated NJCU on the boards outrebounding the Gothic Knights, 55-31. That included 18 on the offensive glass which turned into 17 second-chance points. Montclair also turned 20 turnovers by New Jersey City into 24 points.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, December 8 with a road trip to Ewing, NJ. The Red Hawks will face The College of New Jersey in Packer Hall at 1:00 pm. It will be the first meeting between the teams since their NJAC Championship Game match last February. MSU won that contest 58-51 as it captured its sixth straight conference title.
