Montclair, NJ – Sophomores
MEGAN MAHLSTADT and
KYLE GRAVER each registered three goals and three assists as Montclair State used a four-goal run late in the second half in 15-13 victory over McDaniel College at Sprague Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior
CHELSEA ORBAN scored four-times, including twice in the decisive run as the Red Hawks improved to 2-3 on the season. Emily Brownawell and Olivia Geiger had five and four goals respectively for the Green Terror which slipped back to the .500 mark at 3-3.
Megan Quattrone gave McDaniel a 1-0 lead and back-to-back goals from Brownawell and Annemarie Duerr 42 seconds apart gave the visitors at 3-1 lead. The Red Hawks countered with three straight to take a 4-3 lead however Geiger and Lindsey Farrell answered putting the Green Terror back on top 5-4 with 10:30 to play in the opening half.
MICHAELAH REYNOLDS tied the game for Montclair two minutes later before Brownawell netted her second with 3:45 to play giving McDaniel a 6-5 lead. Graver scored less than a minute later forging the fifth tie and Mahlstadt's goal with 59 seconds pushed MSU in front 7-6. Brownawell completed the first-half hat trick with 35 ticks before halftime as the teams headed to the break deadlocked at 7-7.
ERIN CAMPBELL and Mahlstadt gave Montclair State a 9-7 lead early in the second however Geiger and Brownawell answered with the latter scored with 24:55 to play. Each team put together a two-goal swing with McDaniel's Abby Blankenship tying the game at 11-11 with 9:41 to go.
The Red Hawks made their move with Morgan Cannon scored her first of the season 20 seconds later to ignite the run. Orban followed with the next two before Graver's goal with 2:37 left put MSU in front 15-11. Geiger ended the run with 28 seconds left and Brownawell added her final with :02 remaining.

ALLYN LILIEN made 10 saves in the final 30 minutes to pick up her first career victory. Reynolds finished with two goals with freshman

LEANNE MCCLOSKEY recording 10 and seven draw controls, respectively.
DANA SUSSE and
MEGHAN GORMAN each forced a pair of turnovers while
SYDNEE SAPP led MSU with four ground balls.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, March 17 hosting Muhlenberg College at Sprague Field beginning at 1:00 pm.
