Camden, NJ – Sophomore
SYDNEE SAPP and freshman
RHIANNON BROWN each scored four times as Montclair State rolled to second straight victory with an 18-4 win at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday.
JESSICA ANDREULA and
MORGAN CONNON each posted a goal and assists as the Red Hawks (7-5, 2-1 NJAC) got scoring from 11 different players. Freshman
BRITTANY COSTIGAN had two goals and registered 10 draws and three caused turnovers.
Montclair jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the contest. Sapp scored four minutes in and Brown scored twice in a 37-second span for a 3-0 lead. Costigan added another with 23:13 remaining and Sapp's second gave MSU the five-goal advantage with 22:12 to go.
After Rutgers-Camden (2-6, 0-2 NJAC) scored, Casey Provist finished off a
MICHAELAH REYNOLDS feed and Andreula found the back of the net for a 9-2 lead with just under 12 minutes to play. The Raptors' Natalie DiCarlo got one back for the hosts however the Red Hawks closed out the first half with five straight goals by five different players. Sapp, Connon, Brown,
ERIN CAMPBELL and Reynolds all scored sending Montclair into the halftime break up 14-3.
CHELSEA ORBAN, Provost and Reynolds all had a goal and assist each. Sophomore
AMANDA MAGUIRE made one save in the first half before giving way to
ALLYN LILIEN who had 10 stops in the final 30 minutes.
The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, April 21 when it heads to No. 23 Rowan University for a 1:00 pm NJAC matchup in Glassboro.
