#21 Rowan Pulls Away to Snap MSU Win Streak, 14-10

Brown Nets Hat Trick for Red Hawks

Glassboro, NJ - Ashley Lechliter scored two of her five goals during a game-ending four-goal run as No. 21 Rowan University pulled away from Montclair State for a 14-10 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor Gretz collected three goals as the Profs (11-2, 4-1 NJAC) snapped MSU's two-game winning streak. Freshman RHIANNON BROWN recorded three goals for the Red Hawks, who are now 7-6 overall, 2-2 in conference play.

Montclair trailed 10-6 with just under 20 minutes to play after Nicole Mickendrow scored to put the Profs in front by four.  The Red Hawks then took advantage of a yellow card issued to Rowan scoring twice. BRITTANY COSTIGAN connected with 17:40 to play and JESSICA ANDREULA tallied 46 seconds later trimming the deficit to 10-8.

Brown got her third goal with 12:02 to play and SYDNEE SAPP knotted the game with 6:49 left with an unassisted goal. The Red Hawks then had two chances to take the lead however Profs' goalkeeper Erin Horner made two saves, the second leading to Lechliter's go-ahead goal with 4:37 left.

Kramer added to the lead less than a minute later with Rowan using a player-advantage opportunity to go up 13-10 with 2:04 to play on Lechliter's goal. Kramer recorded her second goal with 29 ticks remaining for the final margin.

Michelah Reynolds, Brown and KYLE GRAVER each scored in the first eight-plus minutes staking the Red Hawks to a 3-0 lead. Costigan made it a 4-1 contest however the Profs closed out the opening half with five straight goals. Lechliter had the last two including on with five seconds left as Rowan led 6-4 at the break.

Brown and CHELSEA ORBAN opened the second half with goals as Montclair tied the game at 6-6 with 25:03 left. Rowan countered with a four-goal run in a 2:42 span taking a 10-6 lead. Abby Daigle netted two goals in the spurt.

Costigan finished with a pair of goals along with seven draws. DANA SUSSE recorded four ground balls and four caused turnovers with EMERLINE TABARES and LEANNE MCCLOSKEY each forcing three.

AMANDA MAGUIRE made five saves in the first half with ALLYN LILIEN posting seven saves in the final 30 minutes.

Montclair State is back in action on Tuesday, April 24 with another NJAC contest as the Red Hawks head to Mahwah, NJ for a 4:00 pm matchup with Ramapo.
