CHELSEA ORBAN scored five times while
KYLE GRAVER added four goals as Montclair State rolled to a 16-4 victory at Ramapo College on Tuesday afternoon.
Britany Costigan,
JESSICA ANDREULA and
RHIANNON BROWN all had two goals apiece as the Red Hawks scored the first seven goals of the game in improving to 8-6 overall, 3-2 in the NJAC.
Orban scored three times in the first 2:10 of the contest, the last coming off an assist by Brown with 27:50 remaining.
SYDNEE SAPP collected a goal 28 seconds later and Andreula's first with 24:12 to go made the score 5-0. Graver got into the scoring act netting her first with just under 20 minutes to play before Brown's first goal pushed the lead to 7-0 with 16:48 left.
Ramapo's Alyssa Tachon broke the run a minute later however Orban and Costigan each connected to up Montclair State's lead to 9-1. Orban and Graver would later score 15 seconds apart with four minutes remaining as MSU took an 11-2 lead into the break.
Costigan finished with 10 draws in the game as she increased her total to 107 on the year, three shy of the MSU record of 110 set by Kailee Beal in 2012. Graver,
WYNN BOEHMCKE and
EMERLINE TABARES each forced a pair of turnovers with Boehmcke scooping up five ground balls to lead the team.
AMANDA MAGUIRE made five saves in the first 30 minutes before giving way to
ALLYN LILIEN who stopped two over the final 30 minutes.
The Red Hawks close out their regular season on Saturday, April 28 at home against Stockton University with game time set for 1:00 pm. MSU will also honor their three seniors prior to the game – Orban, Boehmcke and
MEGAN THOMPSON.
