Red Hawks Get Back on Winning Track With Victory at Drew, 14-10

Wulster Scores Four; Haemmerle, Bellezza Post Hat Tricks

Madison, NJ – Senior BRADY WULSTER scored four times as Montclair State got back on the winning track with a 14-10 victory over Drew University at Rangers Stadium on Tuesday evening.

MATT HAEMMERLE and Dan Belleza each registered three goals as the Red Hawks (4-3) captured the fifth straight victory against their in-state rival in the first meeting between the teams since April 2, 2013. MSU leads the all-time series 17-11.

The teams virtually traded the first six goals of the game before Haemmerle scored his second with 15 ticks left in the first period giving Montclair State a 4-3 advantage. That sparked a four-goal run by the Red Hawks, who added three more to open the second. SEAN STADTLANDER, Haemmerle and JON KAYE each had a goal as Montclair increased its lead to 7-3 with 10:46 to go before halftime.

Drew (3-7) closed the gap to 8-6 late in the second however Stadtlander found Bellezza for a goal with 15 seconds left as Montclair took a three-goal lead into the break.

The Rangers recorded the lone goal of the third and Kevin Goettlich's tally 66 seconds into the fourth made the score 10-8. MSU pulled away scoring four times in the next 3:51 to boost its advantage to six. Wulster scored the first two with Bellezza getting the third before setting up Wulster 31 seconds later as Montclair led 14-8 with 10:03 to play.

Kyle MacDonnell scored twice for Drew getting the Rangers within 14-10 with 7:02 remaining however the Montclair State defense limited the hosts to just one shot the rest of the way.

Bellezza added three assists and Haemmerle two for the Red Hawks, who got three assists from MIKE WASIK. ROB PAPA handed out a pair of helpers. MATT AXMANN was 17-of-27 on faceoffs with five ground balls. Bellezza led Montclair with six with AARON LOSCHIAVO scooping up five. Bellezza and TIM KIRN forced a pair of turnovers. Goalkeepers JACK CARDEW and MATTHEW MCLAREN stopped six and eight shots, respectively.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, April 7 as it hosts Bowdoin College at 3:00 pm.
