Montclair, NJ – The College of New Jersey's Kathleen Jaeger scored five times while Allie Gorman added four goals as the third-ranked Lions rolled to a 16-2 victory over Montclair State in the NJAC opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.
Kasey Donoghue added three goals with Alex Fitzpatrick netting two for TCNJ (7-2, 1-0 NJAC).
RHIANNON BROWN and
CHELSEA ORBAN each scored once for the Red Hawks, who fell back to the .500 mark at 5-5 on the year.
Jaeger scored 1:25 into the contest and Amanda Muller's goal four minutes later gave the Lions and early 2-0 lead. Brown cut the deficit in half with 20:03 to play converting a free-position attempt however the Lions reeled off the next eight goals.
Fitzpatrick and Donoghue got the first two with Gorman registering two straight for a 6-1 lead with 9:35 left. Jaeger got her third two minutes later and goals by Gorman and Jessica Allen 23 seconds apart extended the lead to 9-1 with 5:06 to go before halftime. Jaeger capped off the scoring with just under three minutes to play as TCNJ led 10-1 at the half.
Orban opened the second half with an unassisted goal for the Red Hawks, however rest of the scoring belonged to the Lions who got two goals apiece from Donoghue and Jaeger.
Fitzpatrick had a pair of goals with Olivia Cleale recording two assists. Gorman had five draws and five ground balls with defender Elizabeth Morrison posting three draws, four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Muller led the team with six ground balls. Goalkeeper Miranda Chrone stopped six shots.

BRITTANY COSTIGAN led all players with eight draws in addition to three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Goalkeepers

AMANDA MAGUIRE had seven and eight saves, respectively for Montclair State.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, April 10 with another NJAC matchup. Montclair will host Kean University at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm.
