Burnett, Harmon Two Goals Each for Red Hawks

Montclair, NJ – Sophomores CHAZ BURNETT and RYAN HARMON each scored a pair of goals as Montclair State won its fourth straight match with an 8-1 victory over College of Mount St. Vincent at MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday evening.

BRENT LLEWELLYN added a goal and assist as the Red Hawks improved to 7-1-1 on the year. Derrick Cordova registered the lone goal for the Dolphins who fell to 1-5.

Montclair scored twice in the first 13 minutes of the game. Llwellyn set up DIMITRI MATARAS for the first goal in the fifth minute with DAMIAN KOLODZIEJ making it a 2-0 contest at the 12:39 mark as he finished off a feed from JUAN CARLOS MERINO.

Mount St. Vincent would get on the board at 20:50 when Cordova intercepted a clear deep in the MSU defensive end and made a move inside the box before firing shot inside the left post cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Red Hawks answered that with two goals coming almost four minutes apart. Burnett netted his first in the 25th minute off a pass from Merino. Llewellyn scored at 27:57 to push the lead to 4-1, an advantage Montclair carried into halftime.

Burnett got his second five minutes into the second half and a MATT NETO goal in the 58th minute widened the lead to 6-1. Harmon scored with 13:30 remaining and capped off the Red Hawks' scoring with 9:47 left on a blast from just off the right corner of the box.

Montclair State outshot Mount St. Vincent 33-4 in the game and also took 13 of the 14 corner kicks in the contest. JAMES HART made one save to earn the victory in goal.

Next up for the Red Hawks is a match at home on Saturday, September 22 against Rowan University. Kickoff of the NJAC contest is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
