Glassboro, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday as the Red Hawks were clipped by Rowan University 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman MADISON MARTINO had the only goal for the Red Hawks, who fell to 4-1-3 on the season, 0-1-1 in the NJAC with the loss.

Darah Wagner put the Profs on the board at the 30:26 mark of the first half ripping shot from outside the box into the top left corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead. That advantage would be short-lived as Martino tied the game 22 seconds later with a shot inside the right post after Rowan failed to clear the ball out of the box.

Rowan regained the lead five minutes later on a goal by Jessica Logan. Logan took a short pass and lifted a shot from outside the box that eluded MSU keeper LINDSAY FREEWALT.

The Red Hawks had an opportunity to tie the match in the second half however Profs keeper Shelby Money smothered a hard shot from Martino with 19:30 remaining.

Freewalt finished with 11 saves for Montclair State, which was outshot in the game 22-11.

Montclair is back in action on Wednesday, September 26 when its hosts local and NJAC rival William Paterson at MSU Soccer Park beginning at 7:00 pm.
