ALEX MCKINNON and
TAYLOR BROWN each contributed 16 points as the Red Hawks pushed past Stockton University 73-49 on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman guard
JULIA SUTTON added 12 points off the bench as MSU moved to 11-5 overall, 7-2 in conference play. Senior forward April Peterson scored a team-high 13 points for the Ospreys (4-12, 1-8), who dropped their fourth straight contest.
The Red Hawks jumped in front scoring the first seven points of the contest. Peterson's layup at 6:28 in the first quarter put Stockton on the board and the Ospreys pulled later pulled within 16-14 with 24 seconds remaining. However, Brown drained a three-pointer at the buzzer giving Montclair a five-point lead after one period.
KIM CALLOWAY widened the gap at the beginning of the second quarter with a field goal, giving the Red Hawks a 21-14 advantage. Stockton cut the deficit to three points three times, the last coming on Emily Donzanti's jumper making the score 29-26 with 1:36 to go.
KAYLA BUSH added bucket and Brown netted a three with 30 seconds left as Montclair led 34-26 at halftime.
Calloway's jumper seconds into the third increased the lead to double digits and Sutton;s three a minute later making the score 39-26. Peterson closed the gap to 41-31 with a fast-break jumper, but the Red Hawks answered with back-to-back field goals by
TRISHA PETERSON and McKinnon for a 14 point advantage with six minutes remaining.
Stockton would get the Montclair lead down to 51-42 with 7:53 left on April Peterson's layup.
TAYLOR BROWN responded with a three-pointer to put the gap back into double digits, and sparking a game-ending 22-7 run for the Red Hawks.
DOMONIQUE WIRSING added seven points for MSU while Bush and Calloway recorded six each. Montclair outrebounded the Ospreys 44-27 including 13 offensive boards.

th, facing conference opponent William Paterson in Wayne, NJ at 6:00 pm.
