Wayne, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out their dual meet season with a sweep of local rival William Paterson on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Hawks men (3-5, 2-2 NJAC) registered their third straight victory 109-90 while the women (5-3, 4-1 NJAC) picked up a 127-87 triumph. MSU captured 17 of the 26 events in the meet as the men ran their win streak against the Pioneers to 10 straight while the women extended theirs to 11.
Senior diver
GRACE NIELSEN both the 1-meter and three-meter events as she hit the NCAA qualifying mark in the one-meter event for the third time this season.

CLAIRE LUIGARD,
EMILY ROTHAMEL and
KEVIN GIBSON each won two events.
Nielsen posted a score of 258.60 points to win the 1-meter event before totaling 213.37 in the three meter. Luigard collected her victories in the 1000 freestyle ad 100 butterfly with times of 11:36.06 and 1:02.71 respectively. Rothamel led a 1-2-3 finish for the Red Hawks in the 200 freestyle (2:08.79) and later claimed the 100 clocking in at 59.16 seconds.
MADISON FRANKE was a winner in the 50 freestyle going 25.70 seconds while
CHRISTINA CUSMANO swam 1:04.20 to capture the 200 backstroke.
ERIANNA NGUYEN made it a sweep of the long distance freestyle events for Montclair taking top honors in the 500 (5:49.06).
TAYLOR WADDLETON,
NATALIE WALL, Nguyen and Franke combined for a victory in the 200 medley relay (2:02.72).
Cobbertt swam 1:50.67 in the 200 free as MSU claimed the top three finishes in the event and did the same in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.31 seconds. Gibson posted a time of 22.28 seconds for first place in the 50 freestyle and went 49.94 seconds to take the 100 free later in the meet.
Freshman
TYLER DORSETT captured the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:06.53 with
KEVIN CLAUSS taking first in the 100 butterfly (57.45).
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI was a winner in the 500 freestyle (4:55.26) and anchored the 200 medley relay to victory (1:43.65). He was joined in that event by Gregory Karbeck,
JAMES SINGEWALD and Dorsett.
Montclair State is now off until Friday, February 22 when it competes in the Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University.
