Pivotal Second-Half Run Lifts Rowan Past Montclair State, 71-61

Mitchell-White Scores 23, Emedoh Doubld-Double in Defeat

Glassboro, NJ – Rowan University's DaRon Curry scored 14 points as Rowan University used a decisive run in the second half for a 71-61 victory over Montclair State on Saturday afternoon.

The Profs, who put four players in double figures, used a 16-4 spurt midway through the second half to improve to 10-4 on the season 4-3 in conference play. Sophomore guard MYLES MITCHELL-WHITE recorded a game-high 23 points for the Red Hawks (10-4, 5-2 NJAC).

Rowan led 31-29 at the break and increased the lead to 38-31 after Curry finished off a fastbreak with a layup. Mitchell-White's three brought the Red Hawks back to a point with 11:42 left however Curry answered with a layup and a Connor Dickerson layup with 9:51 to go pushed the lead back to 47-42.

JUSTIN PORTER sank two foul shots with eight minutes to go making the score 49-47 however The Profs countered with their run. Austin Kearney sank a three-pointer and Curry made two at the line following a Red Hawk field goal for a 54-49 lead. Nick DePersia drained a three-pointer which was answered by two free throws from EDDIE EMEDOH. Rowan then scored eight straights as Kearney and DePersia each connected from behind the arc. Ramon Wright followed with a layup giving the Profs a 65-51 advantage with 4:42 to play.

Emedoh finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Porter added seven points and 12 rebounds. JORDAN ROBERSON also hit double-digits on the boards with 10 as MSU outrebounded Rowan 63-39.

Montclair State looks to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, January 9 when it travels to Camden, NJ to face Rutgers-Camden. Tipoff the NJAC contest is set for 8:00 pm.
