Jersey City, NJ -
FRANK ORAMAS scored with 27 seconds left in the game to lift the Red Hawks past NJCU 2-1 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. MSU (11-4-1, 3-2-1 NJAC) extended its unbeaten streak to five games with the win.
Freshman
OSCAR SANCHEZ scored his team-leading 10th goal in the first half after finishing off a pass from
BROGAN QUIGLEY. MSU maintained a 1-0 lead at the half as it limited the Gothic Knights to only one shot on net in the first 45 minutes.
NJCU scored the equalizer in the 78th minute as Joao Fernandes kicked in a rebound off a free kick. The Gothic Knights (11-6, 0-6) stiffened up its defense in the second half and outshot the Red Hawks 9-8 in the second half.
The contest looked like it was heading for overtime, until Oramas was able to blast the ball past NJCU goalkeeper in the final minute. He capitalized on a scramble in the box from a corner to give the MSU the last second win.
MICHAEL MEJIA made three saves to register the win for the Red Hawks.
Montclair State returns to MSU Soccer Park on Saturday at 6 p.m. versus Stockton University.
