Montclair, NJ - The men's soccer team upended Stockton 2-0 on Saturday night at MSU Soccer Park. The Red Hawks extended its unbeaten streak to six games and is now 12-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the NJAC.
OSCAR SANCHEZ and
BROGAN QUIGLEY each scored to propel the high-scoring Red Hawks. MSU was able to limit the Ospreys to only one shot on net in the win.
Sanchez started the scoring early for the Red Hawks on a highlight play. He booted a cross from
STEFAN KOROMAN with his back heel to give MSU a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the game.
The score would remain at 1-0 after the first 45 minutes of action. Stockton threatened after a free kick but it was headed away by the back line.
Quigley netted his first goal of the year in the 48th minute to give MSU a 2-goal cushion.
Following a scuffle in the Montclair attacking zone, a pair of Red Hawks and Ospreys picked up red cards.
For the remaining 37 minutes of action, the two teams played 9-versus-9. The limited attackers shortened up the scoring chances as only six total shots were fired in the second half.
MSU was outshot 4-2 in the second half but made its first one count on Quigley's goal.
Montclair is off until next Saturday when it travels to Ewing, NJ to face TCNJ at 1:00 p.m.
