Union, NJ – Montclair State fell to Kean 3-0 in its NJAC opener at Kean Alumni Stadium on Tuesday night. The 16th ranked Cougars (13-1, 2-0 NJAC) dominated the matchup with the 18th ranked Red Hawks (8-4, 0-1).
Kean had three different goal scorers as the Cougars outshot MSU 23-5 in the game. Senior goalkeeper
NICOLE ANDRIANI made 14 saves in the loss.
The Cougars limited Montclair to just three shots on net and scored twice in the second period to take control of the game. Lia DiPiazza finished off a pass from Peyton Mann in the 20th minute for the 1-0 lead. Kean added on three minutes later as Mann scored off a rebound, giving Kean a 2-0 lead at the half

Melissa Way lofted a high arching shot into the back of the net for the final goal as the Cougars would hold onto the 3-0 lead. The Cougars also held a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Montclair State will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon, October 12 when it travels to Galloway, NJ to face Stockton at 7:00 pm.
