LEAH HIGGINS collected 14 kills with classmate
CARLY WATERMAN adding 10 as fourth-seeded Montclair State knocked off fifth-seeded Ramapo, 3-0 in the first round of the 2019 NJAC Women's Volleyball Championship at the Panzer Athletic Center on Tuesday evening.
Montclair, which defeated the Roadrunners for the second time this season, took the match 25-17, 25-22, 25-16. It was the sixth time the two were meeting in the NJAC Tournament with MSU now winning four times, the last one coming in the 2016 conference title contest.

MEGAN O'ROURKE registered 48 assists and six digs as the Red Hawks (21-9) moved into semifinals and will travel to top-seeded Stockton University (28-3) on Thursday, November 7. First serve at the Stockton Sports Center in Galloway, NJ is set for 7:00 pm.
Junior Hannah Frascella led all players with 15 kills for Ramapo, which fell to 13-7 on the year
The teams traded points through the first portion of the opening set before Montclair pulled out to an 18-12 lead following a five-point run. Waterman had two kills in the spurt with
JILLIAN WILSON extending the lead to 20-14 on one of her three kills in the first. Frascella kept Ramapo alive with a kill making the score 23-17 however
GIANNA ARIAS and
SCHYLER WHITE put down back-to-back kills finishing off the first set with the 25-17 win.
The second set played much like the first and was tied at 21-21 when Waterman posted a kill giving MSU the lead. White followed with one of her own. An attack error by Ramapo made it set point and after the Roadrunners got one back, Waterman closed out the set with her eighth kill as Montclair State went up two set with the 25-22 victory.
In the third, a kill by Waterman and an attack error by Ramapo made the score 8-6 in favor of MSU. Senior
CAITLIN LANGE pushed the lead to 13-9 however Ramapo closed the gap to 15-14 on a kill by Samantha Main. The Red Hawks answered with a six-point run as Wilson and Higgins had two kills apiece for a 21-14 advantage. Higgins notched her 14
th kill bringing Montclair to match point before Lange ended it on the next serve.
Wilson had eight kills and two blocks for MSU, which hit .371 for the match. White totaled seven with Arias chipping in with six. Junior
SIYARA HERBERT recorded a team-leading 16 digs with Waterman adding 12 for a double-double performance.
Morgan Ridgway had 10 kills and 10 digs for the Roadrunners with Felicia Jimenez adding five kills. Kate Shirkey and Juliana Paslawsky had 17 and 11 assists respectively with Stephanie Ross (12) and Ridgway (10) reaching double figures for digs.
