Glassboro, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams were topped by Rowan University Friday evening. The women's team (2-3, 1-1) fell 226-71 while the men's side (0-4, 0-1) was knocked off 163-69.
Sophomore
TAYLOR WADDLETON registered a third-place time of 11:35.08 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while seniors
MADISON FRANKE and
MARGAUX WINCHOCK went 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle. Franke turned in a time of 25.39, as Winchock finished in 25.9.
CAMRYN VOGEL and
CLAIRE LUIGARD went 2-3 in the 200-IM, finishing within .5 seconds of each other.
Franke notched an additional second-place finish, as she took second in the 100-free in 56.2. Winchock claimed third in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:01.4. She missed first-place by .39 seconds. In the diving portion, sophomore
HANNAH GOLDHABER was third with 358.05 while senior
PONSEE IBRAHIM was fourth with 356.25. The quartet of
SOPHIA CIARAVINO,
MOLLY GRAY,
EMILY ROTHAMEL and Waddleton claimed second in the 400-yard medley relay to cap off the event.
On the men's side, sophomore
TYLER DORSETT registered a third-place time of 17:30.4 in the mile, with senior
KEVIN GIBSON placing third in 1:51.05 in the 200-free. He missed second by a mere .04 seconds. Freshman
SAMUEL GOLOVIN was second in the 50-free, finishing in 22.15 and was .21 seconds off first place. Golovin, Dorsett, and Mitch Layne went 2-3-4 in the 200-butterfly, with Golovin coming in with a time of 1:57.89.
Matt Ciattarelli claimed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.99, with Gregory Karback, Zack Woltman, and
CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN picking three of the top four spots in the 200-yard backstroke. Gibson took second in the 500-free in 5:04.33 with
ALEX PALLEN scoring two points with a score of 268.43 in the one-meter diving event. Ciattarelli finished off the individual events by placing second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.57. Montclair also picked up six points in the 400-freestyle relay, with Golovin, Layne, Dorsett, and Gibson touching the wall second in 3:22.84.
The Red Hawks are back in action next Saturday when they host The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
