Owings Mills, MD – The Montclair State women's lacrosse team had their three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday as the Red Hawks fell at Stevenson University, 13-10
KYLE GRAVER scored three times while
CHELSEA ORBAN added two goals for the Red Hawks (3-2). Caroline Murphy netted a game-high five goals for the Mustangs (2-2).
SYDNEE SAPP and
MICHAELAH REYNOLDS helped give Montclair State a 2-0 lead early in the first half and Orban's goal with 20:32 left made the score 3-1. Stevenson scored the next two goals 31 seconds apart to tie the game however Graver's first with 18:49 to go put MSU back on top 4-3. The Mustangs rattled off the next three goals to take the lead however Orban and
MEGAN MAHLSTADT scored late as the teams headed into halftime tied at 6-6.
Montclair State again scored the first two goals of the half, both by Graver before the host Mustangs went on a five-goal run over a 17-minute span. Murphy capped the run giving Stevenson an 11-8 lead with eight minutes remaining.
LEANNE MCCLOSKEY scored 14 seconds later to get MSU within two goals however that would be the last score for Montclair until the closing seconds.
Carly Bowes and Murphy extended the lead to 13-9.
JESSICA ANDREULA got the final for Montclair State with 12 seconds.
Mahlstadt finished with three assists for the Red Hawks, who got six draws, three ground balls and two caused turnovers from
BRITTANY COSTIGAN.
AMANDA MAGUIRE had five saves.
Montclair State is back in action on Friday, March 15 when it heads to Allentown, PA for a 6:00 pm matchup with Muhlenberg College.
