MATT HAEMMERLE and freshman
CHRISTIAN BOYLE each scored three times as Montclair State made its first Colonial States Athletic Conference game a successful one with a 23-1 victory over Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon.
DAN BELLEZZA finished with two goals and two assists for the Red Hawks (5-5, 1-0 CSAC), who saw 13 different players score in the victory. Brandon Krausee had a goal while Mark Porter made 15 saves for the Ravens (3-8, 2-1 CSAC).
MSU scored the first 12 goals of the contest, including nine in the first quarter.
TYLER MCCREERY netted the first 67 seconds into the game with Bellezza tacking on another 48 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Hammerle connected with 10:28 left with a
SEAN STADTLANDER goal making it 4-0.
JOE LARACCA added a score and Hammerle tallied twice more as the lead grew to seven.
JESSE JAMES WEST and
SKYLER FRANCISCO capped off the explosive first quarter for Montclair.
Bellezza set up West for the first goal of the second quarter and then got hits second with 11:01 to play making the score 11-0.
JON LANZALOTTO netted his first goal of the season to complete the game-opening run by the Red Hawks.
Krausse snapped the streak on a man-up goal with 9:29 left however MSU closed out the half with five goals. Boyle had three of them, the last coming with 1:10 to go as Montclair State led 17-1 at halftime.
Lanzalotto, Nick Detore and Laracca had two goals apiece for the Montclair.
MATTHEW MCLAREN stopped three shots in his one quarter of work with
JACK CARDEW making one during the second quarter.
TOM POLLOCK had four saves in the final 30 minutes.
KYLE MATTHEWS was 8-of-9 on faceoffs with
DARIO SIRNI going 7-of-10 as each scooped up six ground balls.
The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, April 10 with another conference contest. MSU will be in Galloway, NJ for a 7:00 pm matchup with Stockton University. The teams were ranked 1-2 in the CSAC Preseason Poll with the Ospreys holding the top spot.
