IMANI THOMPSON converted the deciding kick in the fifth round lifting Montclair State past No. 25 University of Scranton in the Haverford Kickoff Classic on Saturday.
The Red Hawks (0-0-1) advanced to the championship game of the tournament outlasting the Royals (0-0-1) following a double-overtime scoreless draw. MSU faces Arcadia University in the final on Sunday, September 1 at 1:00 pm.
Defense ruled the day as each team totaled 11 shots in the contest. Montclair goalkeeper
PHOEBE BLEDSOE made three saves on the afternoon with counterpart Amanda Steinberg totaling the same for Scranton.
Rebecca Russo got the Royals off on the right foot in the shootout making her attempt. Montclair State failed on its first attempt however Scranton failed in its next try.

KYLINN KRAEMER. Scranton's third straight miss left the door open for the Red Hawks, who took full advantage as Thompson buried her attempt into the back of the net sending MSU to the title contest.
