Collegeville, PA – Junior CATHERINE CARNEVALE scored with one second remaining in the second overtime lifting Montclair State to a dramatic 1-0 win over Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks appeared headed to the .500 mark at 2-2-2, however Carnevale's score before the final horn instead extended Montclair's winning streak to three as it improved to 3-2-1.

A game with a crazy start ended with an even crazier finish. After starting at 12:36 instead of the scheduled 12 p.m. due to late arrivals by the referees, the game ended with the last-second goal.

With time ticking away in double overtime after Bears' goalkeeper Sabrina Doherty punched away a late cross that came on a free-kick, the ball rolled out of bounds with eight seconds left on the clock. Trying for a final attack, Montclair State hurried for the throw-in. The Red Hawks put the ball in play and hit a cross into the box with one second remaining. As time expired, the cross was redirected low-left by Carnevale past a diving Doherty.

Goalkeeper LINDSAY FREEWALT stopped three shots to record her second shutout of the season with Doherty also making four saves. Ursinus outshot the Red Hawks 10-7 with Montclair taking four of the six corner kicks in the contest.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, September 18 when it hosts Vassar College at MSU Soccer Park with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 pm.
