Glenside, PA – Arcadia University's Mackenzie Hoffman scored off a rebound 44 seconds into overtime as the Knights knocked off Montclair State, 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
Arcadia (3-0-1) defeated the Red Hawks for the second time in five days as it posted a 4-1 victory in the championship game of the Haverford Kickoff Classic on Sunday.
Phoebe Bledose stopped six shots for MSU, which fell to 0-2-1 on the season.
Bledsoe made four saves in the first half, two coming in the first 20 minutes as she denied Emily Readinger in the 15
th minute and followed that up with a stop against Kayla Murphy five minutes later. Riley Nyhus came up empty on her attempt against Bledsoe with 10:06 to go in the first half with the MSU keeper making another save versus Nyhus inside the final four minutes.
In the second half, the Red Hawks nearly put one on the board as
EMILY BEENDERS ripped a shot in the 54
th minute that Arcadia's Brianna Williams made a diving stop on. Williams also stopped a
MADDY MCLELLAND shot in the 77
th minute before closing out the second half with a save against
EMILY DEGEYTER with 1:02 left in regulation.
In the extra period, Erin Vander Plaat fired a shot that Bledsoe knocked away. However the loose carom was collected by Hoffman who deposited the rebound into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Montclair State will look to break into the win column on Saturday, September 8 as it faces Salisbury University at 3:00 pm at Arcadia's Jean Lenox West Field.
