Baltimore, MD – Mary Washington's Josh Everard and Gabriel Soriano scored eight minutes apart late in the second half as the Eagles handed No. 6 Montclair State its first loss with a 2-1 victory in the Johns Hopkins Invitational on Saturday.

ANTHONY PELAEZ scored once for the Red Hawks, who fell to 3-1.
After a scoreless first half, Montclair snapped the tie in the second on the first goal of the season by Pelaez in the 55
th minute. Mary Washington (3-0) would get the equalizer 15 minutes later. Ben Ahrens hit the post at the 70:55 mark however the Eagles were able to corral the rebound with Ahrens finding Everard seven seconds later making the score 1-1.
Mary Washington nearly took the lead less than a minute later as Soriano clanged a shot off the crossbar. Everard followed that up with a shot however that was stopped by MSU keeper
MICHAEL MEJIA. Soriano put the Eagles ahead with 10:10 to play.
The Red Hawks would get a pair of shots off in the last 10 minutes however neither one would be on goal.
Mejia finished with five saves for MSU, including three in the first 18 minutes keeping the game scoreless. Kenny Kurtz had won for the Eagles, who outshot Montclair State 13-10 in the contest.
The Red Hawks will look to bounce back on Sunday, September 8 as it faces host Johns Hopkins at 1:00 pm.
