MICHAEL SCHWEYHER had two hits, including a home run as Montclair State captured its second straight game, beating St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), 10-2 at the Ripken Experience on Saturday afternoon.
HAYDEN REYES drove in two runs while righthander
BEN LEVINE pitched six solid innings as the Red Hawks moved to 5-4 on the season. MSU faces Cortland in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 8 with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm.
Montclair snapped a scoreless game in the third inning scoring five runs.
PETER COSENTINO scored the first on a wild pitch with
ANDREW OLLWERTHER doing the same for a 2-0 lead. Reyes followed with an RBI single scoring
CHRISTOPHER WALKER with two more coming home on a Bears error.
St. Joseph's got a run back in the fifth on a Lucas Collet RBI ground out, but Montclair answered that in the fifth as Reyes squeezed home Schweyher making the score 6-1.
JOE NORTON scampered home on a wild pitch in the sixth innings. Schweyher led off the seventh with a home run and MSU tacked on two more in the inning for a 10-1 lead.
Levine (1-2) allowed a run and four hits as he picked up his first collegiate victory. The righthander struck out five. Andrew Watters (0-1) took the loss for the Bears. Cosentino, Ollwerther and Schweyher each had two hits for the Red Hawks.
