Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State field hockey team opens New Jersey Athletic Conference play at No. 11 Rowan University Friday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks downed DeSales 5-2 in a road matchup Wednesday evening. Sophomore CARLIE VAN TASSEL scored three times, joining rookie GAB MAISTO as Red Hawks with three-goal games this season. In the win, LINDSEY BICHER and LINSEY CHAMPA added goals, as LAUREN PICKUL made a season-high 12 saves.

SCOUTING ROWAN
The Profs are 5-2 on the season and are on a three-game winning streak. They downed Alvernia 8-2 on Wednesday after previously defeating Cabrini and Dickinson during their streak. Rowan is outscoring their opponents 34-14 on the year and have outshot their foes 144-57.

LAST MEETING
Montclair dropped a 4-3 decision to the Profs on October 26, 2019. Trailing 4-1, Montclair got within a goal with 6:02 to go as Champa scored. The Red Hawks could not find the tying goal, but Nicole Andriani made nine saves in goal. Kellie Vizzuso notched two assists in the setback.

SERIES HISTORY
Rowan is 56-17-1 all-time against the Red Hawks and has won eight of the last night's matchups. The lone Red Hawk win came on October 15, 2016, as they topped Rowan 2-0. Montclair won nine consecutive meetings from 1987-1990, including three times during the 1990 campaign.
