Ewing, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams opened their 2021-22 campaigns on Saturday with losses to The College of New Jersey at the TCNJ Natatorium on Saturday.
The men dropped a 168-99 decision to the NJAC preseason favorite Lions while the women fell 178-103.
TAYLOR WADDLETON was a winner for the Red Hawks in the 1000 freestyle as she clocked in with a time of 11:09.30.
AMBER ROCHELEAU would do the same in the 200 freestyle, edging out her opponent by .59 seconds. Rocheleau, competing in her first collegiate meet, swam 2:01.01.
ABBY BROCK led a 1-2 finish by the Red Hawks in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.20, just half a second ahead of Rocheleau (1:11.76).
EMILY ROTHAMEL took top honors in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:13.40.
On the men's side,
SPENSER DUBOIS claimed first place in the 100 backstroke, winning with a time of 58.47. Freshman
BRANDON DO collected a win in his first career meet, winning the 200 breaststroke (2:09.87).
In the diving events,
HANNAH GEIB was second in the one-meter event with a score of 177.87.
ALEX PALLEN had the same showing on the men's side in the event posting a score of 172.27.
The Red Hawks are back in the poll on Friday, October 22 with a tri-meet in Madison, NJ and Drew University. MSU faces the host Rangers along with Moravian College at 5:00 pm.
