Men's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. CCNY

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team hosts the City College of New York to close out non-conference action Monday night.

The first kick at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 6 pm, with live stats and video links available on montclairathletics.com. Video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (15-1-1, 8-0 NJAC) clinched the No. 1 seed in the NJAC Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Rowan University Saturday evening. JANBI KAGHADO scored twice in the second half while goalkeeper ANDRES LEZME made six saves.
 
REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Red Hawks were one of four NJAC teams listed in the Region IV Rankings this week. The first published rankings include only the names of teams currently ranked, and next week teams will be published in order of actual ranking within the region.
 
MOVIN' ON UP
Montclair State entered the top-five in both the United Soccer Coaches and d3soccer.com Top-25 polls this week. They moved to No. 5 from No. 9 in the D3Soccer.com version and jumped from No. 8 to No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
The Beavers enter the contest at 5-7 overall, with all five victories coming during CUNYAC conference play. They downed Medgar Evers 4-2 on Saturday, as Yusef Abdelmegid tallied a goal and an assist. CCNY has played a trio of NJAC opponents this year but has been outscored 27-0 in those games.
 
LAST MEETING
Montclair earned a 4-0 victory over the Beavers on September 9, 2019. ERICK CHICAS opened the scoring in the 36th minute, while Nixon Soglo scored twice in the win. The Red Hawks outshot CCNY 30-2, including 15 shots on target in the win.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 21-1 all-time against CCNY, with CCNY winning their lone game on September 6, 2001. The two sides have met every year since 2010 besides last year, and MSU has outscored the Beavers 64-2 during that stretch.
