Saturday night under the lights of Sprague Field on Homecoming is the backdrop as the oldest active college football rivalry is renewed as Montclair State hosts The College of New Jersey. The game will close out MSU's four-game homestand.
The Red Hawks will look to bounce back in their second NJAC game of the season after falling to No. 14 Salisbury last week.
ABELLANY MENDEZ scored on a touchdown for MSU, which fell 27-7 to the Sea Gulls.
OMARIE WILMORE led the defense with 11 tackles with

SEAMUS NELSON each getting eight. Freshman
DORIAN GASHI recorded five and a fumble recovery that helped him earn NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honors.
Meanwhile the Lions (2-2) celebrated their Homecoming with a 15-14 victory over William Paterson. Bobby Wortman kicked two field goals, including the go-ahead 27-yarder in the fourth quarter. TCNJ thwarted two WPU drives deep into Lions' territory in the final 15 minutes, both fumble recoveries, including one at the TCNJ five-yard line. Cole Groschel had 12 tackles to lead the team.
The contest on Saturday will be the 88th meeting between the schools that dates all the way back to 1929. Montclair and TCNJ have met every season with the exception of the World War II years of 1942-45 and 2020 when the game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. MSU leads the series 55-30-2, including wins in 15 of the last 20 contests dating back to the the 2000 season. Montclair State captured the last game in 2019, 10-7 at Lions Stadium in Ewing, NJ.
