Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Keystone

12 Different Red Hawks Net Goals in Rout

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team had 12 different student-athletes register a goal as they cruised to a 20-1 victory over Keystone in Colonial States Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Montclair State (4-3, 1-1 CSAC) rebounded after their falling in their CSAC opener last weekend. Sam Lepore made eight saves in the cage for the Giants (0-2, 0-2 CSAC).

The Red Hawks started quickly, netting seven goals in the first 7:26 of the contest. MATT DANCSECS opened the scoring 34 seconds in, while TYLER MCCREERY had a pair of goals during the opening spurt. The Red Hawks man-down unit also had a strong showing, as JOE COVINO and AIDAN MAXWELL notched goals while down a man to fuel the run.

After CHRISTIAN BOYLE scored at the 12:07 mark of the second, ANDREA FIORENZA scooped up the groundball after winning the faceoff. He went all the way and scored his first goal of the season, as the Red Hawks tallied two goals in a seven-second span. Dancsecs capped off the first-half scoring with his fifth of the year before Izaiah Simon snapped the run with an unassisted tally.

The Red Hawks recorded eight goals during the second half, with DJ BARANIUK and Maxwell polishing off hat-tricks in the effort. KYLE BIRKNER got his first marker of the season, scoring off a feed from CONNOR MCCOY.

All three goalies saw action, as junior MATTHEW MCLAREN earned the victory after playing the first quarter. TOM POLLOCK relieved him in the second and made two saves, as CHRISTIAN WAGNER got the entire second half and denied three Keystone shots. Boyle, McCreery, Baraniuk, and Maxwell all had four points, while WILSON SMITH caused four turnovers had added six ground balls. The Red Hawks went 21-of-24 in the "X" as DARIO SIRNI, and Fiorenza combined for 19 wins.

The Red Hawks close out the homestand Saturday as they host Bryn Athyn at noon.
