Montclair, NJ – Senior first baseman
KAYLA GALLO went 5-for-7 and drove in two runs, one of six Montclair State players with multiple RBI on the afternoon as the Red Hawks downed Ramapo 8-2 and 6-1 at the MSU Softball Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

AMBER POWERS was 4-for-8 as MSU (6-2, 5-1 NJAC) used a big run-scoring inning in each game to sweep the Roadrunners (2-8, 2-6 NJAC) for the first time since the 2014 campaign. Right-handers
ALI CAVALLARO and
KAYLA VOLANTE each allowed an earned run in complete-game efforts.
In the first game, Ramapo grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as Avery Bartolomeo singled back through the middle scoring Megan Gleason with the game's first run.
Montclair would get that back and then some in the third scoring seven times as it sent 12 batters to the plate. Gallo walked with the bases loaded to force in the first run before
KAYLA COSENTINO doubled in two more for a 3-2 lead.
AMBER REED drove in Gallo and a
JENNA MELUSO RBI base hit made it a 5-1 game.
ALEXIS LAW lofted a sacrifice fly with Danielle Siblio doubling to right for the final run as MSU led 7-1.
After the Roadrunners scored in the fourth, Reed finished out the Red Hawks' scoring in the sixth with an RBI single.
Cavallaro (4-1) got the victory as she allowed two runs (one earned) and seven hits, striking out two and walking three. Mahogany Wheeler (1-4) took the loss for the Roadrunners. Powers, Gallo, Cosentino, and Reed each had two hits for MSU.
Gallo put the Red Hawks up 1-0 in the nightcap with an RBI double to center field that scored Powers. Montclair State tacked on four runs in the third.
JENNA MELUSO walked with the bases loaded and Law lined an infield single plating Cosentino for a 3-0 lead.
CHLOE SAPERSTEIN capped the inning with a two-run double as the Red Hawks led by five.
Thu Deo got Ramapo on the board in the fourth, however, MSU matched that in the sixth on an
ALYSSA BOROZAN doubled that brought home Powers.
Volante (1-1) picked up her first win of the season, allowing five hits and a run with three strikeouts and a walk. Megan Giesecke (1-4) suffered the loss for Ramapo.
Gallo was 3-for-4 at the plate with Powers and Sapestein each posting two hits apiece.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, April 17 with a road conference doubleheader at The College of New Jersey with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
