Montclair, NJ – Sophomore forward Arkan Tahsildaroglu scored with 2:20 left in the first overtime lifting New York University to a 2-1 victory over No. 8 Montclair State on Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.
Nicholas Suter also had a goal for the Violets (2-0-1), who won their second straight and picked up their first victory against MSU since a 1-0 triumph in Montclair in November 1997.

AMER LUKOVIC had a goal for the Red Hawks (4-1), who suffered their first loss.
Lukovic gave Montclair State a 1-0 lead in the 23
rd minute with his team-leading fifth goal of the season, finishing off a feed from
RYAN CATALANO. NYU would tie the game with 10:28 remaining in the first half. Alex Rovirosa-Illa served a ball out on to the foot of Suter, who notched his first of the season.
Montclair would put forth the only three shots on goal in the second half, however NYU keeper Luca Mancuso was able to come up with the save. He stopped
ALEX ZIELONKA 54 seconds into the period and made back-to-back saves on shots by
SEAN MILELLI and
EDWIN MELENDEZ in the 78
th and 79
th minutes, respectively.
NYU posted the lone shot in the overtime and that was the game-winner by Tahsildaroglu, who knocked in a pass from Oliver Kleban.
Mancuso finished with four saves while
ANDRES LEZME had one for the Red Hawks, who outshot the Violets 18-9.
Montclair State will look to bounce on Wednesday, September 15 in Bethlehem, PA when it faces Moravian at 5:30 pm.
