AMER LUKOVIC and
REED KARSEN each scored in the first half as Montclair State shut out Keystone College, 4-0 at MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday evening.
BRENT LLEWELLYN had goal and
IAN CHESNEY, the NJAC Rookie of the Week, collected two assists helping the Red Hawks (6-1-1) to their second straight victory. Montclair also downed the Giants (2-4-1) for the second time in as many meetings.
The Red Hawks scored the only goal they would need just shy of the 16-minute mark in the first half.
GENE CARLO ALTAMIRANO took away a ball from a Keystone player and dribbled up several steps before sliding a pass on the left side to Kaghado. The junior to two steps before firing a shot inside the opposite post for the 1-0 lead.
Lukovic made it a two-goal lead 10 minutes later with his sixth goal of the season. Chesney ripped a ball from the other side of midfield down to the top of the box. Lukovic ran on to the long feed just inside the 18, flipping a left-footer past Keystone keeper Erick Gomez making the score 2-0 with 18:58 to go in the first half.
Karsen would beat the first-half horn with an assist from Chesney who delivered the same pass from almost the exact spot as his previous helper. Karsen corralled the ball on the top left side of the box, out-maneuvered a defender and ripped shot inside the near post with five seconds remaining for the three-goal lead. It was Karsen's third of the year.
Llewellyn capped the MSU scoring with 11:06 to play finishing off a
MICHAEL CASPER pass for his second goal.
Senior goalkeeper
SHANE KEENAN earned the shutout, his first of the season as Montclair recorded its fourth shutout of the year and second straight.
Montclair goes back into NJAC play for its next contest at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 25 at New Jersey City University. It will be the first of a back-to-back for MSU, which hosts Alvernia at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday, September 26 beginning at 11:00 am.
