Jersey City, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team notched their third consecutive shutout as they blanked New Jersey City University 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

REED KARSEN, and
EVAN CHACON netted goals for Montclair State (7-1-1, 2-0-0 NJAC). NJCU (7-1-1, 0-1-0 NJAC) was aided by eight saves from goalkeeper Nick Linebaugh to keep them in the game.
Montclair State peppered NJCU with shots, with Linebaugh making three saves early on. After
JOSIAH CRAWFORD hit the post at the 16:32 mark, Lukovic bagged the game's first goal off an assist from
JANBI KAGHADO 14 seconds later. The Gothic Knights defense buckled down, holding Montclair to just three shots over the rest of the half. With just 3:08 left in the opening half, Karsen doubled the Red Hawks lead, with
MICHAEL CASPER getting the assist.
SHANE KEENAN was tested early in the second period, denying Jorkaef Fallas 18 seconds into the frame. Montclair nearly found a third marker in the 65th minute, but
CHRISTIAN BERNAL's try was saved by a Gothic Knight defender and cleared off the line. As time was winding down, the Gothic Knights committed a foul inside the penalty area. Chacon stepped up to the spot and scored his first collegiate goal to cap off the scoring.
Keenan made three saves to earn the shutout victory, while Lukovic and Karsen took a team-high five shots. Linebaugh made eight saves in the back, while Maximo Vargas was the lone Gothic Knight with multiple shots.
Montclair State hosts Alvernia University tomorrow at 7 pm at MSU Soccer Park.
