AMER LUKOVIC scored twice with
JOSIAH CRAWFORD and
GENE CARLO ALTAMIRANO each added goals as Montclair State posted its fourth straight victory, blanking Alvernia, 4-0 at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday evening.
JANBI KAGHADO collected a pair of assists for the Red Hawks, who moved to 8-1-1 on the season with their fourth straight shutout and sixth of the season in 10 matches. MSU is 4-0-1 in its last five contests.
Ben Solsky made two saves to the Golden Wolves (5-2), who had their two-match winning streak snapped with the loss.
Lukovic gave the Red Hawks the only goal they would need on the evening just 3:28 into the match converting a penalty kick for his eight tally of the year. Crawford made it a two-goal contest four minutes later. Kaghado dribbled deep into the box before dropping off a pass to Crawford, who one-timed the pass into the far right corner for his third of the season and a 2-0 Montclair State advantage.
Alvernia would come within inches of tying the game as the Golden Wolves sent a ball to the goal line where Will Schlidt was waiting on the doorstep however, his attempt went over the crossbar.
Lukovic added his second goal of the game in the 57
th minute as Kaghado earned his second assist. Playing the ball from the right side, Kaghado slipped a ball to Lukovic at the top right corner of the six. Lukovic turned an chipped a shot to the far post for the goal giving MSU a 3-0 lead.
Altamirano got the final goal at the 78:05 mark as he banged in his own rebound that clanged off the crossbar. The goal was Altamirano's fifth.
The Red Hawks outshot Alvernia, 22-3 in the game.
SHANE KEENAN stopped one shot for his third shutout of the year.
Montclair returns to NJAC action on Wednesday, September 29. The Red Hawks host Kean University at MSU Soccer Park with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.
