Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. New Jersey City

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team resumes New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday as they host New Jersey City Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State knocked off Farmingdale State 3-1 in a non-conference match on Tuesday. After surrendering the first goal early, TARA LAMBERT, AILEEN CAHILL, and EMMI DENOVELLIS tallied goals in the win. HALEY MARTIN made four saves to earn the victory.

SCOUTING NJCU
The Gothic Knights are 2-3-2 on the year but have won two straight after starting 0-3-2. On Monday, they knocked off CCNY 5-2 before notching a 5-0 victory over Brooklyn College Wednesday. NJCU has played just once on the road this season, dropping a 3-1 decision to Manhattanville on September 11.
 
LAST MEETING
Montclair won 2-1 in the previous meeting on March 13, 2021. Kim Brites opened the scoring in the 24th minute for NJCU, but SAMANTHA GABRIELE answered back 6:33 before halftime. AILEEN CAHILL scored the game-winning goal in the 50th minute to give MSU the 2-1 win. The Red Hawks outshot NJCU 24-6 on the day.
 
SERIES HISTORY

Montclair is 25-2 all-time against the Gothic Knights. NJCU picked up their last win on October 16, 2010, winning 3-1.  During the current 10-game winning streak, Montclair has given up just five goals while adding six shutouts.
 
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks hit the road on Wednesday for their first road NJAC game of the year. They will face Kean University at 7 pm in Union, NJ.
