Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. Kean

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's soccer team visits Kean University for a conference matchup Wednesday evening.

Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm at Alumni Stadium in Union, NJ and live stats and video links are available on montclairathletics.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State blanked New Jersey City University 4-0 in NJAC action last Saturday. HALEY MARTIN and MADISON WINFIELD combined on the shutout, as the Red Hawks received goals from four different goal scorers.

AWARD SEASON

Sophomore defender TARA LAMBERT was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week Monday. Lambert tallied her first career goal in the 3-1 win against Farmingdale State and was part of the backline that allowed one shot against NJCU.

SCOUTING KEAN
The Cougars enter the matchup with a 3-3-2 record and are coming off a scoreless draw with Rutgers-Camden last Saturday. Goalkeeper Julia Masucci made five saves to help the Cougars earn the draw as they were outshot 14-8.
 
LAST MEETING
Montclair blanked Kean 5-0 on March 20, 2021. The Red Hawks opened the scoring 3:51 into the game as CATHERINE CARNEVALE headed in a corner kick from TARA LAMBERT. SOFIA AMBROSIO, LAUREN ERNST, MADDIE MUSICO, and SAMANTHA SENATORE all added goals in the victory, while PHOEBE BLEDSOE and current assistant coach NICOLE CARBONE combined on the shutout.
 
SERIES HISTORY

Montclair is 19-9-6 all-time against the Cougars and are unbeaten in 13 straight matches against the Cougars. From 2009 through 2012, the two sides went into overtime in five consecutive matches, including the 2012 NJAC Championship Game. Kean's last win came in 2008 when they earned a 1-0 win.
