Ducks keeper Emily Franco made one save near the end of the first quarter and added two more in the second, including one against
GAB MAISTO at the 21:32 off a corner. Meanwhile, Montclair's
LAUREN PICKUL kept the deficit at a goal as she made consecutive stops against Brynn Froelich with 2:30 remaining before halftime.
Pickul would come up big for the Red Hawks to start the third posting three saves in the first three minutes of the new half as the score remained 1-0. Franco denied Thompson with 5:22 left however, Thompson would get even at the 10-minute mark. Off the penalty corner,
LINDSEY BICHER slid the insert pass over to the left edge of the circle for Thompson, who blasted her shot past Franco knotting the contest at 1-1.
Bicher would also play a role on the go-ahead goal in the fourth. On the restart, Bicher moved in toward the cage and flipped a shot that Van Tassel redirected past Franco for a 2-1 victory with 5:12 to go. It was Van Tassel's second of the year. Stevens would get a chance to tie a minute later as Froehlich put a shot on cage that Pickul was able to keep from going in.
Pickul finished with six saves for MSU, which outshot the Ducks, 13-12 while also holding the edge in penalty corners, 11-7.
