Women's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Stockton

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's basketball team hosts Stockton University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest Monday evening.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (10-7, 8-4 NJAC) clipped Ramapo 70-65 Wednesday evening to earn their fourth consecutive victory. Ramapo used an 8-0 run in the first quarter to lead after the first, but Montclair tallied the final six points of the second period to grab a three-point edge at the break. The Roadrunners led briefly in the third stanza, but a 7-0 Red Hawk spurt pushed the game to double figures, and Ramapo would get no closer than one the rest of the way. NICKIE CARTER scored a team-high 16 points as MEGAN DUFFY added 13.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
The Ospreys (8-10, 6-6 NJAC) notched one of their biggest wins of the season Wednesday, knocking off Rowan 67-64. The Profs entered the game tied for first in the NJAC with Kean, with the Ospreys receiving a game-high 22 points from Madison LaRosa. Emma Morrone and Jordyn Madigan tallied double-digits for Stockton in the victory.

LAST MEETING
Montclair earned a 60-55 win over Stockton on December 11. A 10-2 Red Hawk run in the second quarter gave them a lead, but Stockton was able to tie the game at 50 late in the fourth quarter. The Ospreys regained the on two free-throws by Grace Sacco, but NICKIE CARTER tallied five straight points to push MSU in front for good. Carter and KENDALL HODGES combined for 33 points as KELLY SMITH grabbed 12 boards.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State is 49-21 all-time against their South Jersey rivals. They are amidst a five-game winning streak against Stockton, with their last setback coming on February 3, 2018. Three of the previous four Stockton victories in the series have been by four points or less.
