No. 12/15 Women's Soccer Make It 10 Straight as They Top Ramapo 3-1

Mahwah, NJ – The No. 12/15 Montclair State women's soccer team topped Ramapo 3-1 for their 10th straight win Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (10-0-0, 3-0-0 NJAC) opened the scoring 3:34 into the match. EMMI DENOVELLIS, who scored against Ramapo last season, scored the opening with a rocket from 30-yards out that tucked inside the upper 90 for her first tally of the year.
  • Montclair State peppered Emma Conlan with shots for the remainder of the first half, outshooting Ramapo 10-2 during the stretch. The visitors doubled their lead in the 28th minute. After serving in a corner kick, TARA LAMBERT was on the receiving end of a pass from AILEEN CAHILL. The junior fired from 18-yards out and banked a shot off the post for her second goal of the year.
  • Goalkeeper HALEY MARTIN preserved the lead, making a save on Carla Goodwin in the 35th minute to send the game into halftime at 2-0.
  • The Roadrunners (3-5, 0-3 NJAC) cut the lead in half in the 50th minute. Sam Ingannamorte served in a corner, and Lauren Vladyka knocked the cross in from the left side, making it 2-1.
  • Conlan made four saves midway through the period to keep it 2-1 before the Red Hawks added an insurance marker in the 72nd minute. Ramapo was whistled for a foul in the box, and Cahill converted the ensuing penalty to make it 3-1.
  • The Red Hawks' defense clamped down and did not allow a shot over 41:15 to earn the win.
