Field Hockey: Gameday Preview vs. Gwynedd Mercy

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State field hockey team hosts Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action Wednesday.

LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, the Red Hawks (7-5) knocked off Stockton University 2-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. CARLIE VAN TASSEL opened the opening in the 24th minute on a breakaway before ALEXA ANTONELLI recorded her first collegiate goal in the 34th minute. KYLIE COMPTON registered a defensive save as LAUREN PICKUL made four saves in goal.

SCOUTING GWYNEDD MERCY
The Griffins are 4-7 on the season and are coming off a 5-0 setback to Marywood Saturday. Their last win game was on October 1, as they topped Keystone 3-1 in non-conference action.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 10-0 against Gwynedd Mercy, allowing just eight goals during the 10 matchups. The Red Hawks have tallied four shutout wins over the Griffins, including a 5-0 triumph last year.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks picked up a 5-0 win in Gwynedd Valley, Pa., on September 18, 2021. After a scoreless first half, Montclair State erupted for five second-half tallies. GAB MAISTO scored three times and added an assist in the win as MSU outshot Gwynedd Mercy 20-3.
