Prendergast Nets Hat Trick as No. 12/13 Women's Soccer Blanks William Paterson

Montclair, NJ – KYLIE PRENDERGAST recorded her second three-goal game of the season as the No. 12/13 Montclair State women's soccer blanked William Paterson 3-0 Wednesday.

Prendergast joins teammate AILEEN CAHILL as the only the third Red Hawks (14-1, 6-1 NJAC) to record multiple hat-tricks in a season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks controlled play in the first half, barely letting the Pioneers (2-10-5, 0-6-1 NJAC) take control in their end of the field. Montclair State's best opportunity came in the 23rd minute, as AILEEN CAHILL's try was punched over the crossbar by Sarah Mantilla.
  • The Pioneer's lone shot of the opening 45 minutes came in the 40th minute, with HALEY MARTIN denying Sabrina Bishara. Montclair State took an 11-1 advantage in shots into halftime, with neither able to scratch a goal across.
  • Montclair State needed 1:47 in the second half to break the 0-0 deadlock. KERRI DRISCOLL received a ball in the middle of the attacking third of the field and slipped a low pass to Prendergast. The rookie moved into the box and rifled a shot into the far corner of the goal.
  • Prendergast bagged her second of the game 12 minutes later, extending the lead to 2-0. EMMI DENOVELLIS cut in from the far flank and dished off to the Livingston, NJ, native Prendergast. She took the ball into the box and fired a shot into the top middle of the goal.
  • Montclair State nearly added to their lead in the 63rd minute, as NATALIE RUFINO's try was cleared off the line by a Pioneer defender.
  • The Red Hawks capped off the scoring in the 86th minute. Prendergast picked off a pass just outside the 18-yard box and sent a low driven shot to the far post and in to cap off her hat trick.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Prendergast scored on all three shots on target, with KIMBERLY CAMPBELL notching seven in the win.
