No. 10/11 Men's Soccer Takes Down CCNY In Regular-Season Finale

Montclair, NJ – The No.10/11 Montclair State men's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 5-0 triumph over CCNY Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Montclair State (14-1-4) tallied three goals in the first 10:38 to break the game open. EVAN CHACON scored the opening marker 42 seconds in before he collected an assist on CHRISTIAN BERNAL's goal at the 1:30 mark. CHRIS FONTANAZZA capped off the early barrage as he converted a PETER LYNCH pass to make it 3-0.
  • OUZI GUEYE bagged a first-half brace, scoring in the 19th minute off a Bernal feed before adding his second in the 33rd minute. Chacon slipped a long, low pass into the box, where Gueye took a touch around the goalkeeper and fired, making it 5-0.
  • Montclair State, who held a 15-1 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes, played a strong possession game in the second period. The defense surrendered one shot and rarely allowed the Beavers to sustain possession in the attacking third during the second half.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Gueye tallied the first two goals of his Montclair State career, converting both shot opportunities.
  • Fontanazza led the Red Hawks with four shots in the victory.
  • CHARLIE REVY earned his first collegiate victory and did not have to make a save in the win.
