HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (8-8, 2-3 NJAC) fell behind early, but the powerful swings of Higgins and DELANEY ST. PIERRE pushed Montclair ahead for good at 10-9. Montclair used the momentum to go on an 8-1 run, with CARLY WATERMAN notching a pair of kills during the spurt.
  • Needing six kills to hit the 1,000 mark, Higgins slammed down the milestone point in the first set, pinning down an assist from DELANEY ST. PIERRE to push MSU in front 24-16.
  • Montclair went on a 9-2 run in the second period, with Waterman tallying a pair of kills during the run to extend the lead. The Gothic Knights closed to within four on a Katrina Nguyendon service ace, but MIA CAPRIGLIONE notched a kill to end set two and put Montclair in the driver's seat.
  • The Red Hawks raced out to a 12-4 advantage in set three, with GIANNA ARIAS and NADYA ACKERMANIAN pounding home kills.
