Crawford Scores Twice As No. 13/14 Men's Soccer Tops Rowan

Montclair, NJ – JOSIAH CRAWFORD scored twice to lead the No. 13/14 Montclair State men's soccer team past Rowan 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (9-1-3, 4-0-0 NJAC) needed 15:48 to record all three goals. The Profs were whistled for a foul just outside the 18-yard box, and AMER LUKOVIC stood over the ball and delivered a perfect strike to make it 1-0 Montclair State.
  • Rowan goalkeeper Chay Kaplan made two saves on Crawford before the senior delivered his first goal of the night in the 14th minute. OWEN MURPHY slipped a pass through to Crawford, who buried the shot to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • 2:17 after his first marker, Crawford bagged a brace to make it 3-0. He dribbled in down the far sideline and took a shot from just outside the 18. The blast took a deflection off a Prof defender and went in for the goal.
  • The Profs didn't put a shot on frame until the 39th minute as SHANE KEENAN made to send Montclair into halftime with the 3-0 advantage.
  • Rowan changed goalkeepers at halftime, and the new keeper made a 57th denial on Lukovic to keep it a three-goal margin. Keenan preserved the lead with a stop in the 67th minute before the Red Hawks cleared the ball off the line in the 87th minute to clinch the clean sheet.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Crawford and Lukovic combined for 12 shots and six on target in the win, as EVAN CHACON and JASON RICCA added two each.
  • Keenan made four saves to earn his third consecutive clean sheet and fourth overall.
  • Crawford's two-goal game was the second multi-goal game of his career, with his first coming against Kean on September 29.
