Men's Basketball Takes Down Ithaca In Home-Opener

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team scored 55 first-half points en route to a 93-97 triumph over Ithaca College Friday.

STEVEN BREEMAN finished with a game-high 23 points for Montclair State (2-0), including 17 in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks raced out to an 8-2 advantage, with Breeman and KYREE HENRY connecting from beyond the arc. The Bombers (0-2) stormed back, leveling the game at 20 on a traditional three-point play from Triston Wennersten.
  • The Bombers grabbed their biggest lead of the day at 37-30 on the heels of a 13-4 run, with Luka Radovich tallying nine points during the rally. Montclair turned the tides with a 12-2 spurt, as Breeman registered four points.
  • Ithaca closed within one at 42-41, but KALLEEM LAMBERT and MIKE JACKSON drained three-pointers on consecutive trips down the floor. Montclair took a 10-point lead into the half, as KIERAN FLANAGAN notched the final five points of the period for MSU.
  • Montclair State shot 18-of-38 from the floor in the first half, including 9-of-19 from three.
  • Ithaca got the game to eight twice in the second half's early stages, but four straight points from Jackson pushed the gap to 15.
  • Henry connected on back-to-back three just as Ithaca crawled to within 10, which would be as close they would get the rest of the way. Montclair held Ithaca to just one field goal over the final 3:34 to clinch the win.
