Women's Soccer: Gameday Preview vs. Rutgers-Camden (NJAC Semifinals)

Montclair, NJ – The No. 12/13 and top-seeded Montclair State women's soccer team hosts No.5 seed Rutgers-Camden in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

NJAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS
The Red Hawks (16-1-0, 8-1-0 NJAC) topped Kean 3-1 in their regular-season finale last Wednesday and, thanks to Rowan's 0-0 draw with Stockton, claimed the NJAC Regular Season Championship. AILEEN CAHILL, LAUREN ERNST, and KYLIE PRENDERGAST tallied a goal and an assist apiece in the win.

MONTCLAIR STATE NJAC HISTORY
Montclair State has made 22 appearances in the NJAC Women's Soccer Championship since its inception in 1999. The Red Hawks are 13-14-12, including 8-4 in penalty kicks. MSU has claimed four championships in 2004, 2012, 2014, and 2021 (spring) while reaching the championship game 10 times.

SCOUTING RUTGERS-CAMDEN
The Scarlet Raptors enter the match with a 4-8-5 mark and took down No. 4 Rutgers-Newark in penalty kicks Saturday afternoon. Rutgers-Camden sent the game to overtime on a goal by Maresa Savarese in the 78th minute, as Savarese, Lauren Bone, Hannah Crowley, and Amy Maurer converted penalty kicks.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 24-0-3 all-time against Rutgers-Camden, recording draws in 2002, 2018, and 2020. Montclair State has held Camden scoreless in the last five meetings and has only surrendered multiple goals
once.  

LAST MEETING
Montclair State blanked Rutgers-Camden 3-0 on October 22. AILEEN CAHILL converted a penalty kick in the 25th minute before KYLIE PRENDERGAST recorded two goals 54 seconds apart in the second half. The Red Hawks' defense limited the Scarlet Raptors to one shot and no corner kicks in the match.

UP NEXT
The winner of this semifinal will square off with No. 2 Rowan and No. 3 TCNJ in the NJAC Championship Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed. The winner also claims the NJAC's Automatic Bid to the NCAA Tournament next week.
