Men's Basketball Takes Down TCNJ For Eighth Straight Win

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team knocked off The College of New Jersey 83-70 for their eighth consecutive victory Saturday afternoon.
 
STEVEN BREEMAN led the Red Hawks (8-0, 4-0 NJAC) with 21 points as MIKE JACKSON added 16.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening of the game featured several ties and lead changes before they reeled off five straight markers to take a 19-15 advantage on a Jackson triple.
  • Anthony DiCaro drained a three-pointer to even the game at 21 with 5:34 to go before Montclair tallied 10 of the following 15 points to grab a six-point edge. Jackson and KALLEEM LAMBERT drained threes during the spurt to help extend the lead.
  • Montclair State finished the period on a 15-5 spurt and took a 10-point lead into halftime. The Red Hawks kept possession of the ball well in the opening 20 minutes, turning the ball over once and shooting 50% from the floor.
  • Breeman heated up in the second half, hitting three-pointers on consecutive trips down the floor. The lead grew to 14 on a layup by Jackson with 11:57 to go, but TCNJ brought it back to single digits with 5:54 to go.
  • Breeman pushed the game back to double figures with another three-pointer, and the gap swelled to 16 on a corner triple by KYREE HENRY. TCNJ would only get as close as 11, with KEYON PRYCE knocking down six free throws in the final minute.

  • Breeman notched his third game of the season with 20+ points and added six rebounds while knocking down a career-high six triples.
  • Pryce matched Breeman with six rebounds and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
  • The 16 three-pointers made were a season-high and the most since hitting 18 against Rowan on February 16, 2022.
  • The seven turnovers also marked a season-low and the fewest since turning the ball over six times against Wilkes on November 17, 2019.
  • TCNJ was led by 16 points and six rebounds from Danny Bodine.
