THURSDAY RECAP
The 800-freestyle relay was the only event that was contested on Thursday. Swimming in the second heat, the women's team took fourth out of 10 teams. The foursome of JULIE TIEDEMANN, TAYLOR WADDLETON, JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO, and EMILY ROTHAMEL turned in a time of 7:56.24. They took over 20 seconds off their seed time and collected 52 team points. The men's side also swam in the relay, placing sixth overall. The quartet of LUCAS GOMES, GREG KARBACK, SCOTT ACKERSON, and TYLER DORSETT clocked in at 7:11.02, just a shade over a second of our fifth.

FRIDAY RECAP
Freshmen JULIE TIEDEMANN and JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO highlighted the Red Hawks' performances in Friday night's finals. Tiedemann placed sixth in the 500 freestyle posting a time of 5:16.92, with Skopp-Cardillo placing in the same spot in the 50 freestyle (24.66). Sophomore LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA won the "B" final and finished ninth overall, clocking in at 24.67 seconds, with ABBY BROCK placing 15th with a time of 25.36 seconds. For the men, RYAN KAPPES swam 4:44.50 in the finals to post an eighth-place finish in the 500 meters. Freshman LUCAS GOMES was also eighth as he clocked in at 20.90 seconds in the 50 freestyle. SANTIAGO VANEGAS finished 18th in the 200 IM (1:58.09). Gomes anchored the 200 medley relay that flirted with the school record in the event before falling short in a fifth-place finish. Gomes, Dennis Delargy, SPENSER DUBOIS, and JOHN ENGLERT put together a time of 1:34.14, two-tenths shy of the mark set at the 2017 Metropolitan Championships.

SATURDAY RECAP
SPENSER DUBOIS notched an NCAA Division III "B" qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke and reset the school record twice to highlight the third day of action. Dubois became the first Red Hawk male swimmer to record an NCA qualifying time since Steven Roth did it in the 100 butterfly at the 2017 Metropolitan Championships. Dubois began the day by breaking the school standard with a time of 56.15 in the morning preliminaries. In the final, Steven Kushner of TCNJ would win out by .06 seconds as Dubois swam 55.72 dropping the school mark by two seconds from the start of the day. Kevin Clauss held the previous mark at 57.74 set in 2019. LUCAS GOMES was sixth in the 100 butterfly posting a time of 50.62 seconds and the women had two in the Top 10 of the 200 freestyle. LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA was fifth with a time of 1:58.05 with JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO finishing 10th at 1:59.82. ABBY BROCK had an individual Top 5 finish of her own, taking fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.97).

TEAMS IN THE FIELD

LAST TIME AT METS
After last year's Metropolitan Championships were canceled due to COVID-19, the Red Hawks placed third on the women's side and sixth on the men's side in the 2020 event. Madison Franke was named the Metropolitan Female Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100-freestyle, 50-freestyle, and the 200-freestyle. Franke set a new school-record time of 1:54.66 in the 200-freestyle, breaking the previous record that had stood for 33 years. EMILY ROTHAMEL notched a first-place time of 2:07.47 in the 200-backstroke and set a school-record time of 58.56 in the 100-back.
